12/30/2023 0 Comments Great falls sip n dip![]() ![]() If we find ourselves in Great Falls again, we're definitely staying at the O'Haire and drinking at the Sip n' Dip. It was a little intimidating, but the bartenders were very sweet and we ended up striking conversations with the other patrons, so it all worked out. If you're from out of town, you will probably get stared at by the regulars at first. I can see why, as a motel bar in a small town, they might not want to invest in those on a regular basis. I also got a generic Tiki shot glass with the bar logo printed on it, but it would be nice to have gotten one of the fishbowls or a full-sized, custom Tiki mug. They do offer souvenirs, but apparently you have to luck out to get a men's t-shirt. It's a little haphazard - again, this is the original accumulation of 50 years and not a Disney-like "themed experience" - but that is part of its charm. The Sip n' Dip is (logically) heavy on the mermaid fantasy decor, with mermaid Tikis and mermaid black velvet paintings and the like. There's nothing wrong with the latter, but seeing the original thing is a lot of fun. ![]() ![]() The decor has the benefit of being authentic, aged Tiki instead of modern retro-Tiki nostalgia. The food itself was decent, having come upstairs from the motel cafe. Our drink took longer, since we had the house special "fishbowl", a large, blue, mouthwashy drink with a variety of umbrellas, swizzle sticks, and garnishes. We got in at about quarter after 6 to have dinner, and were just about done eating by the time the mermaids came on at 7:30. Thankfully the mermaids were there, and we timed it well. It was a Tuesday, so we missed the full show with the organist. We were staying overnight in Great Falls, at the O'Haire Motor Inn (which houses the Sip n' Dip) on our way from Canada to Yellowstone.
